This weekend I went to Groot Constantia with my bff and ultimate plus 1, Tanya. We were invited by the Groot Constantia team to come and experience a day of pampering and relaxation.
I was so incredibly chuffed with the service and general lekkerness of Groot Constantia. From their chocolate and wine pairing to the cute geese in the pond outside – I loved it all.
Check out what we got up to below.
We started the day off with a chocolate and wine pairing. We started drinking at 10:30 in the morning, because I believe in always living my best life – no matter what time of the day it is.
The chocolate and wine pairing is pretty much one of the top 10 tastiest things I’ve ever done in my life. I never knew that two of my favourite things could go so well together! We got 5 different wines and chocolates – my favourite was the Groot Constantia Chardonnay.
The tasting room is filled with beautiful art, and for that reason alone it’s totally worth a visit!
The chocolate and wine pairing is only R80.00 per person. #SoWorthIt
Neck and shoulder massage at Mangwanani
After getting our wine on at the tasting room, we paid Mangwanani a visit for a much-anticipated neck and shoulder massage.
Now, let me just stop right here and explain something. In 2013 I went for a massage for the first time in my life and I was TRAUMATISED. I was so freaked out afterwards that I ended up writing a blog about it, which you can view here.
So I was rather reluctant to go for a massage, because I was scared of having sleepless nights again.
I’m really happy to report that it was AMAZING. I enjoyed it so much that I’m already planning my next massage. I think it’s because the ladies of Mangwanani were just so nice and professional. Here’s a pic of me after my massage – isn’t that just the face of true happiness?!
Picnic at Simon’s Deli
By this time Tanya and I were ravenous, so we were super excited about going to Simon’s Deli for a picnic. We’d heard great things about their picnics, but we weren’t prepared for the amazingness that ensued…
JUST LOOK AT THIS.
LOOK AT IT!
The picnic basket included a delicious baguette, a variety of cheeses, fruit salad, potato salad, a green salad, salami (my fave thing in the world) and the most delicious chocolate brownies. It was absolutely incredible – I was in heaven!
The best part about Groot Constantia is that you can have a proper meal after visiting the tasting room. So many wine farms get it wrong by only serving teeny tiny tapas, or snacks such as biltong. When I’ve had a glass of wine or two, I’m always incredibly hungry afterwards and I want to be able to eat something substantial. At Groot Constantia you can either visit Simon’s Deli, or Simon’s Restaurant – depending on how hungry you are.
Cost of the picnic is R170.00 per person (basket serves 2 people so R340.00 per basket ) So in total it’s only R340 for all that food!
