Last month I wrote about my decision to move to a new apartment. It was one of my most personal blogs to date, and I was overwhelmed by the beautiful response I got from it. I received so many messages from people who were/have been in the same boat as me.
This is an excerpt from an email someone sent me:
“These days you feel pressured into having to have that extra glass of wine with a bestie to have it it slip out that you are not happy so someone else can just say I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN! And the next day you continue to Adult with a hangover but you still don’t feel like you have “got this”.
How true is that?
So, as terrifying as it is, I have decided to write about my personal life a bit more often. If my blog can help even one other person realise that they’re not alone, I’d be so happy. Stay tuned for more posts about life and adulthood.
For now I’d like to share some photos of my new studio apartment with you. It’s definitely not the biggest flat in Cape Town, but it’s just big enough for me. More importantly, it finally feels a bit more like home.
I had a ball shopping for my new place! I spent hours on Superbalist (all my colleagues can testify to this). I used to only shop their fashion section, but since moving to my new place I am ADDICTED to the apartment section. They have really amazing decals and wall art – I bought these amazing cloud decals from them. It makes me so happy to look at them! Superbalist also has the most epic sales, they currently have one on now 😀 (You’re welcome.)
Another online retailer I love is Sugar&Vice. I got the most beautiful protea coasters from them. They also sell gorgeous ceramic plates and salt and pepper holders.
The mezzanine is just high enough for me to not hit my head. Luckily I don’t have many friends who are taller than me! 😉
This is my Bonsai, her name is Ent. (Named after my favourite creatures from Lord of The Rings.)
My bed is on a mezzanine, and this is the little sitting room under it. The couch doubles up as a storage box. My favourite part about the flat is that it has SO much storage space! Another cool feature is that this area can double-up as a bedroom for when my friends visit. The couch can be transformed into a 3-quarter bed, which is really rad.
Shoutout to my landlords for hooking me up with a gigantic TV!
What’s a home without some Nifty250 prints?
I am still growing my library, because most of my books are on my Kindle 🙁 But my pride and joy is my Harry Potter boxset.

Yes, my bed is in the air. No, I haven’t fallen off. Yes, it’s no fun to make it. No, I don’t make my bed very often. Yes, it’s super comfortable.
These are the stairs that lead to my bed. Aka The Stairway To Heaven.
View from my bed. I live for this garden! (Even if it’s not mine.)

The lighting in my kitchen is a bit dark, so I struggled to take good photos of everything. But the cabinets are silver, and even though it doesn’t show here – there’s sufficient space to cook. Because I didn’t have a kitchen in my previous flat, this is a massive step up. Hopefully one day I’ll have an enormous kitchen – the size of the ones on MTV Cribs 😀 I don’t enjoy cooking though, so this is all I need actually.

I have an open plan shower. It has the most beautiful filagree style tiles! I also like that it’s as black as my soul.
This mug is probably my favourite thing in the flat. It speaks to my inner Anna Wintour!

And there you have it! I’m still going to decorate the place a bit more, and hopefully one day I’ll add a Nespresso machine to the kitchen. If anyone knows of any other awesome online homeware stores – please drop me a comment. I’m addicted to shopping for my flat 😉
