Introducing MAC Shadescents

If you’ve been following my blog for a while now, you’re probably familiar with the fact that I have a genuine lipstick addiction. In my previous article about Things That Make Me Happy, I mention how I feel true euphoria when I apply a new lipstick for the first time.

It’s also no secret that I am a super MAC fan. Two of my absolute favourite shades are Heroine and Candy Yum Yum. The one is quite badass, while the other one speaks to my inner Barbie. (She still exists.) When I first caught wind of the MAC Shadescents range, I was very excited but also a bit apprehensive to give it a try. I mean, I love these lipsticks, but would I want to wear them in perfume form?

I’ll answer that question in a minute. Let me first give you some more info about the Shadescents range. MAC have released a line of six fragrances which are inspired by the personalities of six cult-favourite lipsticks: Candy Yum-Yum, Ruby Woo, Lady Danger, Crème d’Nude, My Heroine and Velvet Teddy. With this, they have also released these iconic lipsticks in a new design, which you can check out below.

So, to get back to my original question: Would I wear my favourite lipstick in a fragrance form? The answer is: YES.

MAC sent over their Candy Yum-Yum Shadescent to me, and the perfume is spicy and stylish. This fragrance is perfect for a girl, or guy, with a big heart and a lot of attitude. It’s the perfect mix between sweet and sassy.

I haven’t tried out the other scents, but I’d encourage all of you to go in store and test it. I think there’s a scent for every personality! You can also shop it online here.

50ml fragrance: R795

Lipstick: R240
