I had a hard time writing this review, because all I actually wanted to say to over and over again is:
IT IS AN AMAZING PLACE AND YOU MUST GO.
But because HQ is so great, it deserves a proper review. So here we go.
On Friday evening my bestie and I went to HQ for wine and tapas. My previous experiences with tapas have made me really skeptical of portions. I have a ridiculously long body that I need to feed, so a portion the size of a pea just doesn’t cut it. So at HQ I requested that they bring two sets of each of the tapas.
The portions were really generous, so I was actually just being a pig asking for double sets. Tanya and I could easily have shared it, but we are both really honest about how selfish we are, so it was good to be able to inhale my food on my own.
We started off with some Smoked Chicken Phyllo Puffs, which were super delicious. I am actually drooling at the thought of them…
Full price: R58
Half price: R29
We then had some Sirloin Cubes with Cafe de Paris butter.
Full price: R56
Half price: R28
And to top it all off, we had mini burgers (lamb sliders) and french fries.
Full price: R86
Half price: R43
By that stage I was so full that I actually started fantasising about my loose pyjama pants at home. Seriously, don’t wear anything tight when you go there. You will regret it.
All the delicious food was accompanied by Diemersdal Sauvignon Blanc, which complemented the flavours perfectly.
HQ is open all week (excluding Sundays), but if you go on a Thursday night you can get their tapas for half price. Say what now?! That’s right, half price! 😀
So I think we all know what you are doing this Thursday night…
