Coffee Date

I can't believe that I went through 22 years without coffee. At school I used to pull my nose up at it - only drinking a cup every now and then in winter. During my varsity years I started buying coffee at the cafeteria to fuel me after late nights working on projects, or partying. But even then it wasn't really because I liked the taste - just because I needed the kick.   Then I started working in the CBD, and House of Machines was just across the road from my office. And with that the coffee addiction started.   My mom and I recently went to Pretoria to visit my family, and I made her stop at coffee shops every morning so...

Feeling Fresh

I realised a while ago that a lot of my readers don't know what I do for a living. As open as I am on my blog, I like to keep my worklife private. But I can tell you that I work in the digital industry. Working in this industry means that you are online 24/7, and it's super difficult to plan a holiday/break when you are always accessible. But at the beginning of 2017 I promised myself that I would try. This year is all about taking care of my physical and mental health, and a big part of that is learning when to take some time to myself. And so that's what I did this past week. I went...

Retro Bloom

Last year every website I love crashed on Black Friday, and I was unable to buy any discounted clothes. Or so I thought. A few days after Black Friday, I somehow landed on Sassy Chic – a local online shop I’d never visited before. I was so impressed with the variety of fashion on their website, and even more impressed when I discovered that their Black Friday sale was still on. I bought this wrap dress for an absolute steal and it’s one of those timeless pieces I will be able to wear for years to come. Shoutout to Andy Pearce for shooting yet another beautiful post for me. If you would like to work with the talented Mr Pearce, contact him here:[email protected] Dress: Sassy Chic Shoes:...

Downtown Scene

Last weekend I asked photographer, Andy Pearce, to meet me at Beijing Opera for a photoshoot. I felt really hip about my location choice until I arrived there and realised that what I thought was Beijing Opera, was in fact a place called San Julian. I'm just going to be honest here: I am not familiar with either of these places, because I am eternally uncool. Anyway, it turned out to be an awesome location and the perfect place to achieve my favourite aesthetic of all time, the I-look-like-I'm-in-America-but-I'm-actually-not. Gotta fake it, 'til you make it - right? When I first started doing fashion posts back in the day, I would've NEVER felt comfortable enough to shoot with a guy. But after shooting with Vaughn Wright,...

I don’t give a glam

This dress has been in my closet for a year, worn only once to a wedding. Everyday when I opened my closet, I'd look at it and think: I need to find an opportunity to wear this again. But why should some big event happen for me to wear my nice dresses? I've always made the mistake of "saving" my clothes for special events, and then waiting so long that a whole season would pass. So here I am wearing one of my prettiest dresses for no other reason than to feel beautiful. If you're a clothes saver like me - I hope this inspires you to wear that dress at the back of your closet. You can even wear it when you...
