Breath Of Blue

At the beginning of this year I vowed to go back to doing all the things I love, and one of them is working with fellow creatives to make life more colourful. So I called up two of my favourite people in the industry for a photoshoot, and spoke to up-and-coming designer Janu Steyn about wearing one of his gowns. He gave me the most breathtaking royal blue gown with intricate detail across the chest and a line of buttons down the back. Zel Archer came onboard as photographer, and Cat Terblanche as hair-and-makeup artist. I’ve worked with them a lot in the past and I absolutely love their dynamic. They’re some of the kindest people I know, and together their presence is...

Urban Decay: Prep, Prime, Set

Last year I stopped attending events for a while, because I just had too much on my plate. When I received an invite from Urban Decay to attend their Prep, Prime and Set launch - I decided that it would be the perfect event to get back out there. And with an incredible view of the ocean, delicious snacks and exciting products to test - I definitely made the right choice. All of the above photos were taken by the talented Tegan Smith Photography. At this event, Urban Decay introduced to us their new innovative complexion products. Being a Hermoine Granger, I wanted to write a thesis about all the benefits, ingredients, textures, bottle size, font type, weight and density of these products. But I...

Introducing MAC Shadescents

If you've been following my blog for a while now, you're probably familiar with the fact that I have a genuine lipstick addiction. In my previous article about Things That Make Me Happy, I mention how I feel true euphoria when I apply a new lipstick for the first time. It's also no secret that I am a super MAC fan. Two of my absolute favourite shades are Heroine and Candy Yum Yum. The one is quite badass, while the other one speaks to my inner Barbie. (She still exists.) When I first caught wind of the MAC Shadescents range, I was very excited but also a bit apprehensive to give it a try. I mean, I love these lipsticks, but...

Aromatics in Black Or White

When I think about Aromatics, I think about watching my mom get ready for work and the smell of her hugs. It used to be her favourite perfume back in the day, and so by association - I've come to think of it as a scent for a mature woman. But then Clinique sent me the new Aromatics In White and Aromatics In Black, and I was like: YOH! I like to judge a book by its cover, so I was firstly impressed by the bottle design which is beautifully simplistic and stylish. Then, when I opened the perfumes - I was happy to find that even though they're very different to each other, they're both perfect for a woman of any age. So let's...

Goldwell Anti-Brass Range Review

I’m not usually big on surprises. I like knowing what’s up and being able to plan for it. So you’d think that I’d dislike the Secret Box, a box that contains a secret selection of premium products at a discount rate. But you see, as much as I dislike surprises, I love bargains more. So the Secret Box, which is distributed by Retail Box, is actually right up my alley. The latest @RetailBoxSA Secret Box just arrived 😻 Keep an eye on their Insta to see when you can purchase yours! pic.twitter.com/ocUuSxhqbt — Anja van der Spuy (@AnjaWintour) September 14, 2016 This month’s Secret Box contained a full-sized Goldwell Dual Sense Anti-Brass shampoo and conditioner, and a box of Invisibobbles. All three of...
