Love Local: My Journey With Mazee

There's something so rewarding about shopping local. I think for me, personally, it's because I love being a part of a journey. With big retailers you miss steps in their journey, but with local designers and entrepreneurs - you get to see everything. And when you finally purchase that product; it makes you feel like you've contributed to their success. That you've been there to cheer them on. That is how I feel about Mazee. I was first introduced to the brand in 2013 when I attended my very first blogging event. It was for The Organ Donor Foundation, and it was arranged by one of the biggest agencies in Cape Town. It was a very exciting night for me. Thanks...

A Quick Tutorial

If there is one thing I love, it’s having hair that makes me look like I know everyone’s secrets. I don’t always have the time to curl my hair, however. So I’ve had to come up with a way to get my curl on quickly. How do I cut time? I wash my hair before bed, plait it while it’s still damp and take it out of the plait the next morning. This gives my hair volume and light curls to work with as a base. If I don’t do this; my hair is too straight and it takes me x3 times longer to curl. What curler to use? I used the Glampalm Magic Wand Curler. I’ve had VERY heat damaged hair...

Whimsical

Look at me keeping my promise to blog more! This look was shot ages ago with photographer, Zel Archer, and make-up artist, Cat Terblanche. I meant to upload it sooner, but then life happened. BUT HERE IT IS! YAY! I’m wearing a whimsical tulle skirt by local designer, Olga-Maré. This skirt made me feel like I was 6 and 26 at the same time. It’s so gorgeous. I teamed it with a crisp white shirt from the Woolworths David Jones collection, which I have fallen in love with. I bought a few David Jones pieces at the beginning of winter and I’m so happy with the quality and aesthetic of it. I finished the look off with jewellery from Black Betty and...

A Life Update

This weekend I looked at my blog and felt so guilty that I haven't written anything since 24 May. Sies man, Anja. Your Wordpress theme was kak expensive and you need to use it. Where have I been? I realised that I have explained it on every single social network except on my blog. So I have decided to give you guys a life update. If you've been following all my tweets - please feel free to click away, because this might be a bit repetitive for you. If not; read on. At the beginning of 2017 I vowed to be brave and reach for my dreams. Just kidding, this isn't Pinterest. Let me rephrase: At the beginning of 2017 I vowed to...

Coffee Date

I can't believe that I went through 22 years without coffee. At school I used to pull my nose up at it - only drinking a cup every now and then in winter. During my varsity years I started buying coffee at the cafeteria to fuel me after late nights working on projects, or partying. But even then it wasn't really because I liked the taste - just because I needed the kick.   Then I started working in the CBD, and House of Machines was just across the road from my office. And with that the coffee addiction started.   My mom and I recently went to Pretoria to visit my family, and I made her stop at coffee shops every morning so...
